With a deep-rooted passion for flying, extensive experience in aviation technologies, and a visionary approach to business, he has become a driving force behind the growth of Bangladesh’s aviation sector.
Capt. Choudhury’s journey began at an early age. At just 11 years old, he moved to the UK with his parents to pursue his education, where he completed his O-Levels and A-Levels at Fort Loton High School and Hackney College. His passion for aviation led him to Oxford Aviation in the UK, where he obtained his private pilot license (PPL) in 1989-1990. He continued his studies in Florida, USA, to earn his Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and later his Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) in 1996 — the highest certification for a pilot. His qualifications are recognized globally, having acquired numerous prestigious licenses including ATPs from both the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh and the FAA (USA).
Throughout his illustrious career, Capt. Choudhury has accumulated over 6,500 flying hours and flown a variety of aircraft including the Airbus A310-300, MD-83, DASH-100/300, ATR-42-320, and more. However, his greatest achievement came in 2007 with the founding of United Airways (BD) Ltd.
As Chairman and Managing Director of United Airways, Capt. Choudhury transformed the airline into Bangladesh’s largest and most successful private carrier. The airline, which operates 10 aircraft and serves seven international destinations alongside all domestic routes, has garnered numerous prestigious awards, including the House of Commons London’s Best Investment Award and the Business Asia Most Respected Company Award. Since its inaugural flight in 2007, United Airways has continued to thrive, contributing to the growth of Bangladesh’s aviation industry and creating valuable jobs in the sector.
In addition to his role at United Airways, Capt. Choudhury is the Chairman and Managing Director of TAC Perfumes & Cosmetics UK Ltd., where he markets and distributes TAC-branded perfumes and cosmetics across the UK and the EU. His business acumen extends beyond aviation, as he continuously seeks new opportunities to diversify and grow his ventures.
Capt. Choudhury’s commitment to the growth of Bangladesh’s aviation industry is also reflected in his efforts to train and produce skilled workers for both the local and international markets. Through United Airways, he aims to develop a workforce that includes pilots, engineers, flight dispatchers, and cabin crew, addressing the growing demand for skilled labor in the global aviation sector.
Apart from his business success, Capt. Choudhury is also involved in media, serving as the vice chairman of the South Asian Sky satellite TV channel, which broadcasts across Europe and North America.
