The delegation of ‘NRB World’, the largest platform of expatriate Bangladeshis, met today (7 July, Sunday) with His Excellency President of Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh Mohammed Shahabuddin. A delegation of 12 members led by NRB World President Moha. Sahiduzzaman participated in this meeting. Besides NRB World, Moha: Sahiduzzaman is the President of Bangladesh Business Chamber of Singapore and Managing Director of Sahid Travel & Tours Pte. Ltd.
The NRB World delegation briefed the Hon’ble President on the goals, objectives, plans and activities of this organization. They handed over NRB World’s publication ‘Business America Magazine’ to His Excellency the President as a gift. There are success stories of expatriate Bangladeshis living in different countries in these publications. Besides, there are also success stories of professionals and businessmen of Bangladesh in those publications. His Excellency the President was informed that these publications are regularly received by Bangladeshis and Bangladeshis living in different countries.
They said, this organization has been building a bridge between the country and the diaspora since its inception, at the same time they are working to involve Bangladeshi talented professionals and entrepreneurs living in different countries in the development of Bangladesh. They are also working to bring Bangladeshi professionals, businessmen and entrepreneurs living in different countries on one platform. They happily informed the President that already thousands of expatriates from more than 50 countries have become members of ‘NRB World’.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin applauded the delegation of NRB World for their initiatives, efforts and urged them to play a greater role in the development of the country.
On this occasion, the NRB World delegation invited the Hon’ble President Mohammed Shahabuddin to attend the ‘NRB World Summit 2024’ to be held in Singapore from 27 to 29 December 2024 as the Chief Guest and give valuable guidelines to the expatriates to contribute to the development of the country.

In this meeting, NRB World informed that they want to contribute to the business and overall development of Bangladesh. Many people are already contributing to the development of this country. But some have come to work here and have been subjected to uncooperative situations.
They believe that if the NRBs get a supportive environment to participate, there will be an opportunity to speed up the implementation of the present government’s plan to build a ‘Smart Bangladesh’.
At the same time, through NRB World, businessmen from different countries have the opportunity to have a clear idea about the business potential, investment environment and policies of this country. Because all the members of this organization have their professional engagement in the respective country.
They said, “We want to make Bangladesh known to the world as a ‘Business Friendly Country’. Therefore, they wish His Excellency the President to look into the matter so that anyone interested in doing business in this country does not face any adverse situation in the application of the policies.
They said that at present the banks of Bangladesh are organizing ‘Road Shows’ in the respective countries to encourage ‘Offshore Deposits’ among NRBs living in different countries. However, NRB World feels that it may be challenging to achieve the target of the initiative as planned by just organizing ‘Road Shows’. For the success of this initiative, it is necessary to motivate and encourage the potential depositors to do so. For which it is necessary to keep regular follow-up of this work. Since most of the members of this organization are personal acquaintances with each other, ‘NRB World’ can play an appropriate role in making this initiative of the banking sector of Bangladesh a success. Therefore, ‘NRB World’ is keen to work in the entire process from creating awareness among NRBs to ensuring their deposits in Bangladeshi banks.
According to NRB World, most of them have family members living in the country. NRBs want to be worry free about their members living in this country. NRB World has launched ‘NRB World Support Forum’ to work on this issue. Through which the members living in this country will get the necessary support.
Also, NRB World is conducting various services for NRBs to stay hassle-free in Bangladesh. They request His Excellency the President to give a direction in this regard to respective authority, so that the NRB World Support Forum can work as per the requirement in this country, they want the necessary cooperation from the concerned government authorities.
‘NRB World’ is going to organize ‘NRB World Summit 2024’ from 27 to 29 December 2024 in Singapore with an objective of ensuring the role of NRBs and building a strong network among themselves as the development progress of Bangladesh continues. In which NRBs from around 50 countries of the world are expected to participate.
The delegation members of NRB World expressed their gratitude to His Excellency the President for giving them an opportunity to meet them, listen to their words attentively and give valuable guidance to make ‘NRB World’ more effective.
