Mr. Asef Bari, President and CEO of Bari Home Care, is a distinguished entrepreneur and philanthropist whose unwavering commitment to community service has made him a pillar of the Bangladeshi-American diaspora. Born into a prominent family in Rangpur, Bangladesh, Asef Bari moved to the United States in 1992 and began a journey that would profoundly impact both his local community and his homeland.
After graduating from Oklahoma State University, Mr. Bari gained valuable experience working for various reputable organizations. However, his passion for making a difference inspired him to establish Bari Home Care, a trusted home care service provider that serves thousands of elderly and disabled individuals across New York State. With 10 office locations spanning the five boroughs, Long Island, and Buffalo, Bari Home Care has become a lifeline for many, providing essential care services while creating job opportunities for immigrants and members of the Bangladeshi community.

A steadfast advocate for community development, Mr. Bari extended his business ventures to meet the diverse needs of his community. In the Bronx, where many Bangladeshis reside, he founded Bari Supermarket, Bari Restaurant, and Bari Party Hall, which provide vital services and employment opportunities. His dedication to service is also evident in the establishment of Butterfly Day Care, further enhancing his legacy of care and support.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Asef Bari demonstrated unparalleled leadership and compassion. He and his family organized funerals, distributed food and financial assistance, and supported thousands of struggling individuals. For these efforts, they were honored with the “Corona Hero” award by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.

Beyond his business achievements, Mr. Bari is deeply involved in philanthropic and social causes. As the First Vice District Governor of Lions Club District 20 R-2, he leads initiatives that uplift underprivileged communities. He also serves as President of the America Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ABCCI) and Rangpur Zilla Samity, and as Advisor to the North Bengal Foundation and Jackson Heights Bangladeshi American Business Association (JBBA). His commitment to religious and cultural harmony is exemplified by his roles as President of the Suffolk Islamic Center and Port Jefferson Jame Masjid in Long Island.
Integral to Mr. Bari’s success and service is the unwavering support of his family. Together with his wife, Munmun Hasina Bari, he has built a legacy of giving back to the community. Munmun, an accomplished interior designer, entrepreneur, and the Chairman of Bari Home Care, plays a pivotal role in the family’s ventures. She also leads Bari Media, publishing the Bengali-language newspaper Bangla Post to serve the Bangladeshi diaspora.

The Bari family’s three children—Muhib Bari, a Duke University graduate; Sabah Bari, pursuing an MPH degree at Columbia University; and Adib Bari, currently studying at Farmingdale University—uphold the values of education, service, and humility instilled by their parents.
Together, the Bari family represents a shining example of how dedication to service, entrepreneurial spirit, and cultural pride can create lasting change. While Asef Bari remains the driving force behind their success, the collective efforts of his family amplify their impact, making them one of the most respected families in the Bangladeshi-American community.
