Sanjida Afreen, Country Director of Business America Magazine, a New York–based international business and investment publication, is a visionary, dynamic, and dedicated professional leader. She has been playing a pivotal role in building strong bridges between global business and investment communities and the Bangladeshi diaspora worldwide.

On the occasion of the upcoming Global Business Summit 2026, scheduled to be held on April 10, 2026, in New York, USA, she shared her insights with us in an exclusive interview.

Question:

As the Country Director of Business America Magazine, what is the core objective behind organizing the Global Business Summit 2026 in New York?

Sanjida Afreen:
Our objective is very clear — “Connect Your Business to the World.” Through this summit, we aim to create a powerful global platform for entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and business leaders from Bangladesh and across the world.

With participation from representatives of more than 50 countries, the summit will emerge as a strong hub for international collaboration and investment. Business America Magazine and NRB World have long been working to organize and strengthen the global network of Non-Resident Bangladeshis, and this summit is a practical reflection of that vision.

Question:

Why was New York chosen as the host city for this summit?

Sanjida Afreen:
New York is one of the world’s most influential financial and business capitals. Hosting the summit in an international business hub like Times Square means showcasing Bangladeshi entrepreneurs more prominently on the global stage.

Many critical global investment decisions originate from New York. Therefore, organizing the summit here will play a vital role in attracting international investment for Bangladesh and diaspora-led businesses.

Question:

What opportunities will this summit create for Bangladeshi entrepreneurs and the Bangladeshi diaspora?

Sanjida Afreen:
The summit will feature high-level panel discussions, B2B business matchmaking, investment showcases, and international networking sessions.

Bangladeshi entrepreneurs will have direct access to foreign investors and global corporate leaders, opening doors to joint ventures, export expansion, and entry into new markets. This will be an especially significant opportunity for startups, SMEs, and women entrepreneurs.

Question:

How important is the publication of special magazine editions alongside the summit?

Sanjida Afreen:
It is extremely important. We believe that celebrating success inspires the next generation.

Through special publications such as “100 Global Bangladeshi Diaspora Leaders,” “100 Global NRB Leading Women,” “Bangladesh’s Top 100 CEOs,” and “100 American-Bangladeshi Changemakers,” we are highlighting Bangladeshi leadership and achievements on a global scale.

These are not merely recognitions; they are strategic initiatives to strengthen Bangladesh’s global branding and soft power.

Question:

How effective do you think this summit will be in attracting foreign investment?

Sanjida Afreen:
No country can achieve rapid development without foreign investment. The summit will host in-depth discussions on ESG, impact investing, sustainable growth, and bilateral investment opportunities.

Through this platform, international investors will gain a realistic and comprehensive understanding of Bangladesh’s potential, human capital, and market opportunities. I firmly believe that this summit will generate new investment flows into Bangladesh, significantly contributing to job creation and industrial growth.

Question:

What role will the summit play in promoting women leadership and young entrepreneurs?

Sanjida Afreen:
Women leadership and young entrepreneurs are being given special emphasis at the Global Business Summit 2026.

Dedicated panel discussions featuring Global NRB Leading Women and Young Leaders will allow them to share their experiences and challenges. This initiative will play a meaningful role in empowering women and shaping future global leadership.

Question:

Finally, what message would you like to share with local and expatriate business leaders?

Sanjida Afreen:
My message to everyone is simple — let us come together to build a more connected global business future.

The Global Business Summit 2026 is not just a conference; it is a convergence of opportunities, partnerships, and a vision for Bangladesh’s brighter global future.
